Anthony Richardson, back as the Colts starting QB, showed improvement after a notable benching

This week, Steichen explained the concerns raised for Richardson.

“What I mean by that is the attention to detail in everything he does, from the classrooms, to the walk-throughs, to practice, to the weight room, all those little things just have to be next level,” Steichen said. said. “That was discussed, and we started working on that. That was discussed with him two weeks ago, and those were the conversations that took place, and he has made progress in the past two weeks.”

Richardson is only 22 years old and in his second year in the NFL. He started twelve games during his career at the University of Florida and started ten for the Colts after a shoulder injury prematurely ended his rookie season.

The Colts knew there would be up and down moments in Richardson’s development, and that has certainly been the case. They are willing to go along with it, sources say, provided the process and preparation are good.

The team’s brass and coaching staff believe they have Richardson’s attention when it comes to off-field preparation and in meetings. Essentially, Richardson had to embrace how intense it needed to be.

And sources underscored what Steichen said publicly about Richardson: The change in preparation during his two-week absence was noticeable.

Today, the Colts are hoping that will translate to the field.
