Jim Harbaugh tried to send QB to Michigan while OSU committed

Among several gems from Joe Burrow’s revealing press conference Wednesday: The Bengals quarterback said first-year Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh tried to recruit Burrow when Harbaugh was head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, after Burrow had already committed to the state of Ohio.

Burrow said Harbaugh contacted him prior to an NFL Week 11 Sunday Night Football game between the Bengals and Chargers at SoFi Stadium.

“He had just gotten the job at Michigan in January after that (2014) season,” Burrow explained. “I had already been committed to Ohio State for five or six months at that point. So I think Coach (Harbaugh) was trying to make a big splash by flipping Ohio State’s quarterback commitment. I’m not entirely sure that he knew exactly who I was or what I could do at that moment. I think he just wanted to make a little splash there.

During the same press conference, Burrow apologized for using the F-bomb when discussing how teammate and receiver Ja’Marr Chase tells Burrow he’s open.
