Denny Hamlin announces NASCAR retirement verdict

NASCAR star Denny Hamlin has issued his verdict on retirement now that the 2024 season is over.

The #11 driver currently races for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Cup Series, having made his debut for the team in 2005.

During a stellar career, Hamlin has racked up an impressive 54 race wins and 352 top-10s. However, a Cup Series championship has eluded him thus far.

Unfortunately for Hamlin, that trend continued in 2024, reaching the playoffs but being dropped after the eighth round, falling short of a championship four.

After the championship race in Phoenix that was the case confirmed that Hamlin and NASCAR sponsor FedEx would part ways in the long term.

This, combined with the fact that Today, Hamlin is co-owner of the NASCAR team at 23XI Racing led to speculation that the No. 11 driver might end it.

However, it appears that is not the case as Hamlin clears things up on his Actions Detrimental with Denny Hamlin Podcast.

Hamlin admits that he only thinks about retirement on Mondays when he “feel likes it,” explaining, “Every Sunday I get in that car and I think, ‘I have a chance to win.'” that’s true. just something that will be hard for me to give up,”

“One day there will definitely be a light switch that comes on and says I’m not as fast as I used to be and things like that.

“But I still feel like I can win it and I feel like I can win every week and that’s what drives me.”

Hamlin’s final verdict on the matter suggested that we will indeed see him in the Cup Series next season.

“If those who choose to retire, they know. I am not aware of it,” he concluded.
