Joey Bosa’s stunning admission proves Chargers Jim Harbaugh has changed

The Los Angeles Chargers put the idea of ”Chargering” aside for good during Sunday night’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Just ask superstar defenseman Joey Bosa.

Sure enough, the team coughed up a 21-point halftime lead and nearly let the struggling Bengals steal one in Los Angeles. There was probably a feeling of deja vu among many fans, including the players.

But it turns out the Jim Harbaugh era really is different.

Instead of losing in another spectacular way and raising serious questions about the team’s ability to make noise in the playoffs, the defense got a few key stops and Justin Herbert stepped up big on key drives.

After the game, Bosa told ESPN’s Kris Rhim that a lack of belief and feeling that the team would spoil close games used to be a problem in the locker room: that position and coming up short. So I’m just proud of everyone.”

It’s a remarkable admission from Bosa, one of the last surviving players from the San Diego era. Sunday night was proof that things have changed and has undoubtedly had a confidence building effect on all these past issues.

This is especially true when you consider the talent level of the visiting Bengals offense and the fact that Bosa’s defense didn’t even have Khalil Mack on the field.

Going forward, you could almost expect the Chargers to thrive in critical late-game scenarios, which is a nice testament to Harbaugh’s impact in Year 1.
