Nico Ali Walsh calls out Jake Paul after the Mike Tyson fight

The internet had a lot to say about the interesting meeting between boxing legend Mike Tyson and YouTuber Jake Paul, but there was one voice in particular that stood out from the crowd.

Nico Ali Walsh, the grandson of boxer and activist Muhammad Ali, also known as ‘The Greatest’, is an up-and-coming boxer himself. He made his professional debut in 2021 in his grandfather’s shorts. So carrying Ali’s surname and heritage, the 24-year-old boxer had strong words for Paul after the fight on Friday (November 15).

‘Jake Paul is a disgrace to this sport’ Walsh wrote on X. ‘If my grandfather was still there, he would call him. Absolutely no shame,” he continued, without trailing off.

This isn’t the first time Walsh has called Paul out on his “negative” impact on the sport. Walsh spoke to NewsNationsaying that he and Paul don’t fight in the same sport. “He’s fighting for headlines, and I’m fighting for my bloodline,” Walsh said.

Ali is considered the best boxer to ever step into the ring. The three-time heavyweight champion was the first to do so ever set the record, and with 37 knockouts in his career, it’s not surprising that his grandson is not only proud of the sport his grandfather dominated for so long, but also protective of it.

Walsh concluded the tweet with a short but sweet message to Tyson: “Love you Mike🙏🏼.” He’s clearly protective of the 58-year-old retired boxer, but Tyson and Ali’s relationship goes back decades to the beginning of Tyson’s professional career. After Ali’s vicious loss to Larry Holmes, Tyson knocked out Holmes in their own fight in 1980, avenging Ali and boosting his career.

Forty years later, Tyson appears to have maintained a special relationship with the Alis. Once, Tyson even invited Walsh to his pigeon loft…and we all know how Tyson feels about his pigeons.

Despite the major differences in weight classes, Paul has expressed interest in meeting Walsh in the ring. Walsh’s current record shows he has an 11-1 winning record. Interestingly enough, Paul has the same boxing record.
