Jennifer Lawrence put a contemporary spin on maternity wear Sunday in Los Angeles at the 2024 Governors Awards, where honorary Oscar statues were presented to influential figures in Hollywood who have made outstanding contributions to creative fields and humanitarian causes.

The actress arrived on the red carpet in a custom Bottega Veneta dress from the upcoming Pre-Fall 2025 collection. The brown floor-length dress with ruffles and sleeves was embellished with the brand’s signature teardrops on one shoulder and a matching piece that fitted wrapped around her baby bump. Lawrence is pregnant with her second child with husband Cooke Maroney, whom she married in 2019. They welcomed their son Cy, named after artist Cy Twombly, in 2022.

Lawrence accessorized with the brand’s sculptural gold earrings and a matching clutch executed in another signature element of the brand, the intrecciato leather button clutch.

Stylist Jamie Mizrahi, who works with Adele, Jeremy Allen White and Riley Keough, put together the look.

Most recently, Bottega Veneta creative director Matthieu Blazy’s Spring 2025 collection was described in a previous WWD review as “playful, experimental and sometimes dazzling.”

“In his eagerness to experiment, some of Blazy’s suggestions were clumsy, especially the lopsided skirts with one pant leg ending,” WWD’s Miles Socha noted. ‘But then he would redeem himself with the chic of a simple white or black shirt with a border of false eyelashes; a dress with one sleeve and ruffles in mango-colored jersey, or a voluminous, rust-colored top with a flowy leather neckline, finished with a full white skirt and earrings.”

The 2024 Governors Awards will honor Quincy Jones, Juliet Taylor, Richard Curtis and producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for their influential cinematic and humanitarian contributions. The 15th Governors Awards are sponsored by Rolex.
