Game preview: Colorado Avalanche looks to bounce back against Philadelphia Flyers

After completing a four-game homestand, the Colorado Avalanche head east to begin a four-game road trip and take on the Philadelphia Flyers. This will be the first of two regular season games between these teams this season.

Colorado avalanche

As previously mentioned, after completing a four-game homestand, Colorado heads on a four-game road trip and makes their first stop in Philadelipha. Colorado won three of four games in this most recent homestand and lost their only game in that homestand against the Washington Capitals. In that game, Colorado got some much-needed reinforcements back as Miles Wood, Jonathan Drouin and Valeri Nichushkin all returned to the lineup.

On a more negative note, however, Alexandar Georgiev did not play in that match and was placed on IR yesterday as he is now injured. The Avs recalled Kevin Mandolese to back up Justus Annunen tonight as he will most likely start again.

Projected lineup

Artturi Lehkonen-Nathan MacKinnon-Jonathan Drouin
Valeri Nichushkin – Casey Mittelstadt – Mikko Rantanen
Joel Kiviranta – Ivan Ivan – Logan O’Connor
Miles Wood-Parker Kelly-Nicolai Kovalenko

Devon Toews-Cale Makar
Samuel Girard-Josh Manson
Oliver Kylington-Sam Malinski

Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers come into this game having also won three of their last four games and are also celebrating something special tonight. Former Colorado Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson played his 1,000th NHL game against the Buffalo Sabers on Saturday, but his official celebration will take place tonight against the Avalanche.

Projected lineup

Owen Tippett-Sean Couturier-Travis Konecny
Joel Farabee-Scott Laughton-Bobby Brink
Anthony Richard-Noah Cates-Matvei Michkov
Tyson Forester-Ryan Poehling-Garnet Hathaway

Emil Andrae-Travis Sanheim

Goalkeepers

As previously mentioned, with Georgiev being placed on IR yesterday, Annunen will most likely start again tonight. Opposite him, Aleksei Kolosov gets the start for Philadelphia. After being pulled in favor of Trent Miner against Washington on Friday, Annunen will need a much better performance tonight to help Colorado to a victory.
