Powerball payout – Texas Lottery confirms Saturday’s colossal win

Did you get a chance to see the “almost” Beaver Moon over Texas last night? The Lone Star landscape was glittering silver from Wichita Falls to McAllen and Port Arthur to El Paso– unless of course there were clouds or storms. Oh, and by the way, here’s the latest on the weather. It will be bumpy in parts of the state today. But let’s go to Powerball and Lotto Texas with Extra! and Saturday evening drawings.

It was another busy evening for the Texas Lottery in Austin and for the Powerball team that handled Saturday’s drawing from Tallahassee, Florida. But before we drop the Powerballs, let’s take a look at a homegrown game with a very large jackpot.

To my surprise the Lotto Texas with Extra! game continues to grow its jackpot amount. Based on our data from previous observations, the game usually has a winner long before the jackpot reaches $30 million. In case you didn’t know last night, the game’s drawing was $41.25 million and there was no winner.

Our confidante at the Texas Lottery confirmed that the game did not produce a jackpot winner last night, but several great prizes were awarded. Five tickets for Saturday’s game paid just under $12,000. Another 17 tickets matched the same number scenario as the winners, but did not choose the “Extra!” so their price was $10,000 less.

The Texas Lottery confirms that more than 20,000 tickets have been sold for Saturday’s Lotto Texas with Extra! game that has earned an award. If you would like to verify your ticket, which you will need to do before attempting to redeem it, you can do so here.

Now, on to Powerball. The Saturday jackpot for November 16, 2024 was $133.8 million. Here’s how that drawing played out:

The Florida Lottery Powerball crew confirmed that no tickets were sold for last night’s match in the quantities needed to claim the jackpot. So on Monday night, those who choose to play Powerball will have a chance to win an estimated $144 million. That’s the annuity, the lump sum payment would be $66.2 million.

A Match 5 Million winner was sold in Georgia, otherwise one of the biggest ticket winnings in last night’s game belongs to a ticket sold by the Texas Lottery. We don’t have point of sale data on where that ticket was sold, but we confirmed that a Texas ticket earned a $250,000 prize in Saturday’s Powerball.

The card matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball. The Power Play option provided a multiplier of “times 5”. So a $50,000 profit without Power Play is now a quarter of a million dollar profit because of the buyer’s decision.

Here are the numbers we saw rolling out of the hopper for Saturday, November 16, 2024.

If you think you have a match, visit the official Texas Lottery or the official Powerball website to verify that match and confirm what your prize payout will be. And if you’re lucky enough to win a big prize, you’ll find details on where to go and what to bring to claim that prize.

The next Powerball jackpot drawing on Monday will be worth $144 million. The Lotto Texas with Extra! The same night’s drawing will be worth $42.25 million and Tuesday’s Mega Millions will be worth $420 million. We know these are pretty tempting prizes, but don’t let the lure of instant wealth take over.
